Ocean? how long it has taken for the debris to be seen and floating off the coast? well, if it is confirmed that it is airasia, it would coincide with all the circumstances that have occurred since the aircraft disappeared. we ve had radar plots of the aircraft through the point that it disappeared. we were also in communication with the aircraft up to approximately three minutes prior to its disappearance. we knew its approximate altitude. we knew its approximate speed. and with all of that information, and understanding its fuel load, the fuel it had on board, were able to more or less calculate what its trajectory and direction and distance would be once the ....

Contact with 8501. it is 10:00 a.m. local time. what do you make of that wording of what that indonesian official said? it appears they may be referring to the last radar plots that they have with regard to the aircraft, and the estimations of fuel that the aircraft had on board and combine the known data with the amount of fuel they had to calculate the approximate location of the aircraft, which leads them to believe it is at the bottom of the ocean. none of this is really very much a surprise to us. we have been interpreting some of the data to mean just exactly the same thing. you know, anthony, as we were surmising some of the scenarios that could have resulted based on the information available to us. we re hearing just this hour ....

Being used and look at the procedures and protocols that are followed by the pilots which are the history of this airline is fantastic. what s your instinct on this flight on the disappearance of this flight? i think there s going to be some question with regard to the airasia captain s decision making. if you examine the radar plots relative to all of the other aircraft that were in the sky in that direct vicinity you ll find that the majority dozens of aircraft are actually paralleling the storm but further to the south-southwest. they are actually over land and completely sir lyly navigating those storms. there is an aircraft going north and south paralleling the storm on that route. only two, three or four aircraft are actually following the same flight path that the air asia ....

International correspondent, nic robertson. he s in kuala lumpur. nic, what s going on with this? reporter: well, john, for the investigators, this is important, that they can draw some more conclusions about who was in control of the aircraft, what they were doing and what their intent was. what the malaysian officials are telling us is that with help of neighboring countries, they ve been able to look at the different radar plots and talk to these different countries about what their radar systems have seen. what they re able to say now is that the plane flew, came back across the malaysian peninsula and then flew northwards around the top end of indonesia before turning southwards down towards the south indian ocean where that search effort is ongoing right now. and they also say that they believe from the way that it flew, from the position that it flew, that it was trying to avoid indonesian radar, and the conclusion they are drawing is that the pilot or whomever was at the cont ....

Islands? well, the andaman islands might be located along a route to a further destination. there s no way to tell that the andaman islands is the intended new destination. i did read the reuters report. one interesting thing was it said the radar plots of that target were going from way point to way point, which leads me to believe that an airway was reloaded in the flight management computer so that the airplane would track one of the published airways rather than if a destination only had been put in and direct to that destination had been entered, the aircraft would have crossed across the airways and not over any particular of the way points. so it leads me to believe that it was programmed intentionally that way. do you agree, john, with that? yes, i do. so what i hear both of you ....
