Under the influence of severe cyclonic storm ‘Asani’ many states in India are likely to witness showers for the next few days.
IMD said with the fresh spell of heatwave the maximum temperatures would rise by two to four degree Celsius in several parts of India during the next three days.
The low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and neighbouring South-East Bay of Bengal will intensity into a cyclonic storm around May 8, IMD said.
"The heatwave condition is likely to spread to some more parts of northwest and central India after May 7," IMD official said.
No part of northwest, central and east India is likely to record a heatwave over the next five days, IMD said.
