Sikh Yatrees reach Nankana April 16, 2021 NANKANA SAHIB: As many as 818 Indian Sikh Yatrees reached Gurdwara Janamasthan to attend Baisakhi festival on Thursday. Deputy Commissioner Raja Mansoor Ahmad, DPO Bilal Iftikhar and Deputy Secretary Shrines Imran Gondal received them. Later, Sikh Yatrees performed their rituals, including Matha Teki. Talking to journalists, group leader of Indian Sikh Yatrees Sardar Harpal Singh said that they were very happy on the warm reception. Meanwhile, the police took strict security measures to avoid any untoward incident. DPO Bilal Iftikhar said that 1,028 police officials would perform duty in three shifts. He said that special pickets had been set up inside and around the city. He said that luggage scanners and walkthrough gates had also been installed in Gurdwara Janamasthan. ....
National February 22, 2021 NANKANA SAHIB: The Sikh community on Sunday organised a ceremony in connection with Saka Nankana Sahib at the Gurdwara Janamasthan here. Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister for Anti-Narcotics Ijaz Shah said that the minorities had complete religious freedom in the country and they could enjoy their religious festivities and festivals. He said that the Baba Guru Nanak International University would be completed soon. He said that everybody should learn the history of his religion. He said that the Sikh community was a peaceful and disciplined nation. He condemned the Indian government for now allowing the Indian Sikhs to visit Pakistan to participate in the festivities of 100th anniversary of Saka Nankana. ....

Ijaz Shah says ministry changed on his request National December 13, 2020 NANKANA SAHIB: Federal Narcotics Control Minister Brig Ijaz Shah (retd) said he had requested Prime Minister Imran Khan to change his ministry as he had some domestic and health issues. Addressing a function in connection with Christmas celebrations at tehsil council hall here Saturday, he warned the SHOs of taking action against them if drugs were found in their respective areas. He said minorities had complete religious freedom in the country and they could celebrate their festivals according to their will.
