Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday said he had no desire to become the Chief Minister and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) could make its own Chief Minister.
During the JD(U)'s national executive meeting, Kumar said that he is not attached to the position. "I had no desire to become the Chief Minister. I had said that the public had given its mandate and anyone can be made the Chief Minister, BJP could make its own Chief Minister," said Kumar.
The statement comes days after six of seven legislators of the Janata Dal (United) in Arunachal Pradesh defected to its NDA partner, BJP.

Patna (Bihar) [India], December 28 (ANI): Nitish Kumar did not want to become the Chief Minister, said BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi while adding that he accepted to become the CM on the request of JDU, BJP and VIP leaders.
Speaking to reporters here on Monday, Sushil said, "He [Nitish Kumar] did not want to be the Chief Minister. BJP and JDU leaders told him that we fought the poll on his name and vision and said that people had voted for him. In the end, he accepted to become the CM on request of JDU, BJP and VIP leaders."

RCP Singh replaces Nitish Kumar as new national president of JD(U)

Senior Janata Dal-United (JDU) leader and Rajya Sabha MP Ramchandra Prasad (RCP) Singh was unanimously chosen as the national president of the JDU. RCP Singh replaced Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
JDU in a tweet said, “In JDU’s National Executive Meeting, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar proposed RCP Singh’s name to be made the National President of JDU which was unanimously accepted and also approved by the National Council. Hearty congratulations and best wishes from JDU family.”
After being chosen as the national president, RCP Singh in a tweet said, “I am thankful to Nitish Babu, my guide, who reposed faith in me and entrusted me with this responsibility. I express my gratitude to every member of the party, every worker and officer. Thank you very much.”
