Escaped during the quake. david? i am in the recreation yard. this is facility that was devastated the day of the earthquake. over my shoulder you see the scorched facade of this building. it wasn t mother nature that did most of the harm here. it was the inmates themselves. when the quake hit, it jostled open the cell doors, dozens of inmates managed to make to i m standing. guard towers collapsed. many of the guards awoke and found they had a full scale riot on their hands. they fled to a nearby liquor store. they set that building ablaze and then incredibly they returned here to the prison. many of them fueled by the booze and the idea of being free then went on a rampage setting the prison on fire. one of the guards who arrived for an early morning shift took a picture using his cell phone. here you see the prison as it turned into an inferno. ....
