That this is almost permissive. and it really is quite troubling from a law enforcement perspective to see the frequency of these types of attacks, the apparent randomness in the way the attacks are carried out and the number of victims. regardless of where you are, we have seen attacks in a synagogue, we have seen attacks in churches, we have seen attacks at fast food restaurants, at malls. these are the types of place that people expect to be safe and secure where people go with their families and where we have grown up and expect to be in an environment that is safe and secure and to see these types of acts occurring like this is very troubling, certainly, from not only a law enforcement perspective but as a citizen of the united states. shawn, i want to thank you for your perspective and i d like to you stand by as we continue to bring you breaking news on on this shooting in dayton, ohio. we want to turn to elizabeth ....

Questioned robert mueller yesterday as a member of the foreign affairs committee. and first, i want to get your response to the work product just issued by your colleagues over in the senate, and i want to read you a portion of the report and get your response. former assistant to the president and cyber security coordinator michael daniel told the committee that by late august 2016, he had already personally concluded the russians had attempted to intrude in all 50 states based on the extent of the activity and the apparent randomness of the attempts. intelligence developed later in 2016 bolstered mr. daniel s assessment. all 50 states were targeted. thank you, chris, for your question. i m a recovering computer science major, and i worked on cyber security issues since i ve come to congress. it is not surprising that our cyber security is very low, very bad, and that these election systems were infiltrated by the russians. and as you said earlier, it is completely chilling that the ....

Come all for the purpose of making the political point with your base? yeah, i m not sure what else you can conclude, martin. to the extent that there s a policy goal behind all of this, you hear things from time to time from the administration that suggest that the very chaotic nature of all of this stuff, the randomness of it, the collateral deportations, meaning if along the way they find anybody else who s deportable, that they ll be snatched up by i.c.e. you hear from the administration that this is a message they want to send back to honduras or guatemala or mexico so that people won t try to make illegal crossings and won t try to stay in the country and remain undocumented. but it seems very unlikely. nothing that we know about how people actually operate suggests that that would be effective. so what we re left with is this kind of random sort of whack-a-mole sort of a national ....
