Wed 12 May 2021 03.00 EDT A new theatre is to open in Reading this autumn with a “radical modern take” on The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, who was imprisoned in the city several years after its publication. Dorian, written by Phoebe Eclair-Powell and Owen Horsley, will be staged in October by Reading Rep in the company’s new permanent home, converted from a red-brick Salvation Army hall after a two-year campaign that raised over £1m. Reading's Twilight Trail sells 10,000 tickets as visitors enjoy light show

The Twilight Trail has been designed to be as inclusive as possible throughout its run – including wheelchair-accessible alternative routes wherever needed and bowls of water and treats for assistance dogs – but this Monday sees a relaxed version of the experience for all 14 bookable slots, between 4-8.40pm. Specially tailored to a neuro-diverse audience, the brightness of the lights and volume of the sounds will be lowered and hearing loops provided for the audio installations from local theatre companies, Reading Rep and Rabble.
