05/24/21 An Iowa City transient who faces charges of starting a fire inside a downtown Iowa City electrical box earlier this month has reportedly done it a second time. Police say at around 2:30am Saturday, 49-year-old Brian Yauk started a fire behind a metal electrical panel door to a circuit breaker in the 300 block of East College Street. Yauk reportedly burned a wrapper and a paper towel, which he put behind the panel door before setting it on fire. The fire burned out on its own without damaging any property. 5/8/21 A homeless man faces charges that he started a fire inside an electrical box in downtown Iowa City, causing over $1,000 in damage. Iowa City Police were called to the alley between Apartments Near Campus and Szechuan House on the 300 block of East Burlington Street just after 8pm Thursday for a man starting a fire inside an electrical distribution box.  The fire was still smoldering when police arrived. Cedar Rapids police arrest suspect after shots fired incident

In a release from the CRPD, officers responded to the 1600 block of 30 th Street Northwest just before 6:45 pm  on a report of shots fired. Witness information determined that a man discharged a handgun in the air and threatened to shoot a 23-year-old male. The suspect then reportedly fled on foot. 4/4/21 Two Cedar Rapids men are in custody after a shots fired incident at a country bar. According to a news release from Cedar Rapids Police, officers were dispatched to Hazzard County American Saloon on 2 nd Avenue SE for a report of two individuals outside of the bar fighting, with one of the individuals armed with a handgun.  Officers arrived on scene and did not locate anyone fighting, but they did hear a gunshot coming from near the intersection of 2 nd Avenue and 3 rd Street SE. Coralville Police have made an arrest in a shots fired incident from earlier this month. 33-year-old Dejuan Scott was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after noon Friday. Police say Scott was the gunman who fired shots outside his Boston Way apartment building just before 2am on Saturday, January 9 th. He was identified after the incident was caught on surveillance video.
