South Africa: The Budget process and public participation
On 1 February 2023, National Treasury published a media advisory note inviting South Africans to share their suggestions on the National Budget prior to the Budget Speech, which will be presented on 22 February 2023. The National Budget (Budget) touches all South Africans. For the economically marginalised, it sets out the funds earmarked for providing social services. For the corporate enterprises, it provides an indication of the spending priorities and tax proposals put forward by government that fundamentally impact companies' operational and financial decisions.
