A new Knox County Board was given their oaths of office and seated last week. County Clerk and Recorder Scott Erickson administered the oaths of office to all 15 members of the board - most of which were re-elected to new terms. Jared Hawkinson was re-elected for another two years as chairman of the board and new committee structure and assignments were established. New board members include Anthony Weiss, Amanda Smith, Sam Cohen, Josh Kramer, and Patty Boone. Additionally, after several years of civilian life following a long stretch on the board, Greg "Chops" Bacon has returned to public service. The Public Safety and Justice Committee, made up of the Sheriff, State's Attorney, Public Defender, Circuit Clerk, Coroner, Judicial, and Mary Davis Home departments, will be led by Kramer. The Text My Gov program lets residents text keywords or questions to a number which will then have a response that guides them on how to get what they need.
