Televised president bl debates. in 1976 in the first debate ever where a sitting president faced his challenger in a televised debate, i mean, yeah, it was mixed reviews in terms of who won. mostly that was because everybody was so preoccupied with the fact the debate collapsed on television in a technicality. watch this. one of the very serious things that s happened in our government in recent years and has continued up until now is a breakdown in the trust among our people and the don t adjust your set. this is what it was like live. hold on for just a second. this is what it was like for people watching the debate that night. hi, rachel. how does president obama counter the strategy of mitt romney s to unveil whole new ideas or deny he ever held the ideas that he plainly has held? it s one thing to have a truth squad fact checking on pooinlli. how do you counter that at the podium? one is i m rubber, you re glue, bounces off and sticks to you. trickle-down, to confuse everybody, throw up a lot of smoke about that word, trick trickle-down. he did that with war on women, too. he did it with war on women and has done it in the past on saying that obama wants to, quote, end medicare as we know it. right, exactly. so that, again, to throw up a lot of confusion about who s the one who s really changing medicare? this is where the president failed most. he needs to call him out when he does that. right at the top of that debate last night when romney first mentioned trickle-down government, obama only, it obvi ....
