Garuda plans major restructuring that may halve operating fleet

JAKARTA, May 23 (Bloomberg): PT Garuda Indonesia needs to completely restructure its business, potentially reducing the number of planes it operates to less than half its main fleet as it seeks to survive the crisis wrought by the pandemic, its president told staff this week.
We have to go through a comprehensive restructuring, a total one, ” President Director Irfan Setiaputra said in an address to staff on May 19, according to a recording heard by Bloomberg. We have 142 aircraft and our preliminary calculation on how we see this recovery has been going, we will operate with a number of aircraft no more than 70.” ....

The 6th Global Road Safety Week was observed from 17-23 May 2021 with new global plan for the decade of action for road safety 2021-2030 in accordance with UN Resolution 74/299 to improve global road safety.
The new global plan as guiding document would provide an opportunity to connect the successes and lessons of previous decade to prevent at least 50% of road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030. Road safety has become the global concern due to alarming rise road traffic crashes as the cumulative toll of road traffic injured and causalities is truly terrific. Road safety within 5 pillars of activity in global plan includes road safety management, safer roads and mobility, safer vehicles, safer road users, and post-crash response. ....

The number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Uttar Pradesh continued to drop as the State on Sunday recorded only 4,844 new positive cases but the number of deaths in 24 hours lingered over 200.
