Valleys rode that ascendency through the second half, with their legendary skipper Ali Brigginshaw pulling the strings to help orchestrate the team’s fourth win in the BHP Premiership.

New mum s stunning return to Capras ranks

Premium Content Subscriber only Mariah Storch will hit the field with the CQ Capras on Saturday, just 10 weeks after having her first child. The hard-working second rower will come off the bench in the team’s Round 2 clash against the North Queensland Gold Stars at 4.55pm. The women’s game features on a jam-packed program at Rockhampton’s Browne Park. Five Capras teams will be in action, starting with the under-19 women who are up against the Wide Bay Bulls at 10.55am. The Intrust Super Cup XXXX Rivalry Round will pit the Capras against the Mackay Cutters in the last game of the day at 7pm.

NAMED: Who is key for Capras women in season opener

Premium Content Subscriber only The experience of Chelsea Baker and Annette Brander will be critical for the CQ Capras in their season opener on Saturday, according to coach Amanda Ohl. The Capras head to Brisbane to tackle the West Brisbane Panthers at 3pm on Saturday in Round 1 of the BHP Premiership. Capras teams will also be in action in the Intrust Super Cup, Hastings Deering Colts (under-21), the Mal Meninga Cup (under-18) and Cyril Connell Challenge (under-16) this weekend. Jillaroos, Maroons and Broncos star Chelsea Baker will lead the CQ Capras in the BHP Premiership this season. Ohl is looking forward to seeing the players back in action after the inaugural statewide women’s competition in 2020 was cancelled after just one game because of COVID.
