When we think of those involved in our health care treatment we think of doctors, nurses, lab techs and front desk staff. We also think about the people that send out the dreaded billing statements. Those “people” are health information management professionals, and their roles go well beyond the revenue and insurance process to working in data management, information technology, education, HIPAA, privacy and security laws. Even now, their future roles are adapting to the advancements in health care that are happening today.
