The UT administration has removed the registration cap on internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles under its EV policy. The administration has prioritized charging infrastructure and incentives, and will streamline the process for consumer convenience. Steps will be taken to expedite the establishment of charging stations. Tax rebates and incentives will be targeted specifically for eco-friendly vehicles purchased within the jurisdiction of Chandigarh.

EV Bikes: In February, the administration had stopped registration. “In July, the original cap was exhausted and registration was about to be stopped but then it expanded the cap. Now, it has again stopped the registration. Neither the people nor the dealers are involved in the decision-making,” said Ram Kumar Garg, finance secretary, Federation of Automobile Dealers of Chandigarh.
