PUNE: Two women constables from the Dighi police rescued a one-year-old boy lying quietly next to the body of his mother in their house in Pimpri Chinchwad, on Tuesday. Police suspect the baby’s mother might have died a couple of days ago. Their neighbours realised she had died when a foul smell started emanating from the house. Fearing Covid, they did not dare to help the boy, who starved for at least two days. The two women police constables — Sushila Gabhale and Rekha Vaje — took charge of the baby.
