ReLit concludes month-long awards celebration by announcing 2020 winners The ReLit Awards, presented to work published by independent presses, has concluded a month-long celebration of its return by announcing its 2020 winners. ReLit returned from a four-year hiatus this month by celebrating the years it missed: 2018, 2019, along with the 2021 awards. The ReLit Awards don’t offer a cash prize, instead presenting the winners with the ReLit Ring, designed with four dials engraved with the English alphabet which can be spun to spell words. ReLit continues month-long celebration by announcing 2019 winners ReLit, the 20-year-old prize honouring books published by independent presses, continues its month-long marathon of awards with the announcement of the 2019 winners. Though ReLit took the past four years off, the prize is celebrating its return under new executive director Katherine Alexandra Harvey by honouring books from the years it missed. Winners were named in three categories: poetry, short fiction, and novels. The full 2019 shortlists, representing work published in 2018, are featured on ReLit’s website. Shortlists for the 2020 awards will be published on April 19 with winners announced on April 23, and the 2021 shortlists will be published on April 26 with winners announced on April 30. ....

The ReLit Awards honour the best Canadian books published by independent presses. There are three categories: novel, short fiction and poetry. The prize is known for releasing long shortlists. The prize was first founded in 2000 by Newfoundland filmmaker and author Kenneth J. Harvey. 2017 marked the last year the prizes were previously awarded. The ReLit Awards are now being managed by Harvey s daughter, Katherine Alexandra Harvey. To bring the awards up to date, the prizes will announce the shortlists and winners for 2018-2021 in April, with each week in the month being devoted to a single year. ....
