Area politician returns to visit Macomb Patrick Stout Voice Correspondent MACOMB — Former sheriff''s deputy, WIU trustee, and area politician Zack Stamp returned home this week to promote a book about his life and career. Stamp visited his hometown of Stronghurst on Wednesday and then made a Macomb appearance on Thursday. Stamp was a McDonough County sheriff's deputy from 1975 to 1977. He left for a career in politics and helped with the campaigns of Senator Mary Lou Kent, Governor Jim Thompson, Senator Laura Kent Donahue, and Governor Jim Edgar.
