situations as a passenger on that plane to go through severe weather. you talk about anyone who's on an airplane and turbulence, they feel that this is the end for them. most people in aviation will tell you that most likely, you will be fined. they will bet money that you will be fined because these planes are built to handle it. the key is, the person at the controls, they have to be able to handle it and they have to react in the proper way. >> yeah. renae, as you've covered mh 370 along with all of us when it happened in march of this year, many will be looking and really hoping and praying that the way information is disseminated an the way this search and rescue operation is conducted is very different to what happened in that case so make it clear, we are talking about air asia indonesia here but people will be hoping lessons have been learned. >> absolutely. you know, already we're seeing as far as the air line goes, the dissemination of information is happening rather quickly. you remember with our flight

worried. this is an extremely painful time for them as they get word that this flight is missing. you know, the air lines are saying they don't know what has happened to it. they don't know. they cannot provide very much in the way of information but we can tell you there are 162 people onboard that air bus 320. the majority of them were indonesians. we're sharing this picture now from singapore where we know there's a help center with a number that people can call. as you see this woman on her screen clearly in distress as so many must be at this time. such a worrying time as they wonder, wait and pray in the hope that they will get more information about what has happened to their loved ones. renae marsh, i know you are still with us. you mentioned us speaking to the ntsb and about how any kind of involvement would have to be requested from the indonesians. if that request was made, what

370, families were very upset because they felt as if they weren't receiving updates in a timely fashion. in this case here, we're seeing that the airline is putting out statements and putting out information that they know in a relatively quickly -- we were able too get information about nationalities of who was on board. there was a hot line given out for people who need more information if they are family members who are onboard this plane. so we are seeing a difference in that way as far as getting out the known information to the people who want to know. those are the about em wpeople t because imagine you have a family member, you're waiting there and that flight now we're talking more than five hours an the flight has not landed. >> yeah. >> so we do see at least in that way, lessons learned as far as information being put out quickly. >> yeah. renae marsh joining us on the phone. cnn's aviation and government regulation correspondent. we really appreciate it.
