India sees 97% rise in cyber extortion victims in 2023: Orange Cyberdefense report, ET Telecom
Orange Cyberdefense: Over the last 12 months, the number of cyber extortion victims globally increased by 46%, marking the highest numbers ever recorded. Large enterprises were the victims in the majority of attacks (40%) – a trend exacerbated by a single threat actor, "Cl0p", which exploited two major vulnerabilities in 2023, as per the report. Meanwhile, small organisations make up a quarter (25%) of all the victims, closely followed by medium-sized businesses, with a share of 23%.
