AP CM YS Jagan Seeks Jal Shakthi Ministry Approval For Polavaram Revised Estimates

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy met Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Wednesday and reportedly requested him to approve the Revised Cost Estimates (RCE) of the Polavaram project of Rs 55,656 Crore.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister asked the Central Water Minister to provide adequate assistance for the speedy completion of the Polavaram project. He also requested the amount spent for land acquisition and rehabilitation costs also be reimbursed. While explaining the details, the Chief Minister said that the number of families to be relocated increased significantly in the year 2017–18 when compared to 2005–06. The CM said that the number of houses, which were flooded, has also increased significantly over time. The number of displaced families had increased from 44,574 families to 1,06,006, which has resulted in a huge increase in the costs of the Rehabilitation & Resettlement expe ....

AP Govt Submits Polavaram Revised Cost Estimates 2017-18 To Jal Shakthi Minister Gajendra Singh Shekavath

NEW DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Minister For Finance, Buggana Rajendranath Reddy and Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav met and submitted a memorandum to the Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday, with regards to the Revised Cost Estimates (RCE) of the Polavaram project at 2017-18 price level.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Anil Kumar Yadav said that the Central Minister has responded favourably to the AP government’s request. “The Union Minister accepted our invitation and agreed to visit the Polavaram Project in the next 15 days,” he mentioned.
The Irrigation Minister said that the Government was in the process of setting right the issues, which were made during TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu s reign. The Minister said that a Memorandum to the Union Minister with the RCE for the construction of the Polavaram project was submitted for his approval, to which the Jal Shakti Minister has responded positi ....
