Two longtime incumbents and a 22-year-old newcomer were victorious in the East Deer Board of Commissioners election Tuesday. Anthony Taliani, 75, a 51-year incumbent, was the highest vote-getter among the five candidates, notching 202 votes, or 23.68%, according to unofficial results from the Allegheny County Elections Department. Two veteran East Deer commissioners and three newcomers are vying for three at-large commissioner seats in the township. Four of East Deer’s five commissioner seats, three at-large and one in the 1st Ward, are up for election this year. The only seat not up is held by 2nd Ward Commissioner
The East Deer Police have officially become part of the Allegheny Valley Regional Police Department. East Deer is joining Springdale Township and Cheswick, which created the combined police department in July 2019 East Deer’s addition goes into effect on Friday.
