'A nightmare': Rickards High student found shot to death on 18th birthday Tuesday was supposed to be a big day for Jalen Jones, a Rickards High School student who dreamed of becoming a professional basketball player or rapper. It was his 18th birthday — and Jalen was excited. He planned to go down in the morning to the Shell station next to his apartment complex to fill out paperwork for a new job.
