Flood warning remains in force for Norton, Malton and Old Malton

Levels in Malton peaked around 5.05m on Friday morning and river levels have fallen through the weekend.  A spokesperson for the Environment Agency said: "The level on the River Rye at Howe Bridge is 4.3m and is falling slowly, and in Malton the current level is 4.1m and falling. They include a flood alert issued this evening for the River Riccal catchment area - especially around Nunnington. "The river level is rising due to rainfall and snowmelt over the last 24 hours, with more rain forecast overnight on Sunday and into the early hours of Monday," the Environment Agency said.
