Fué Xoaquín Lorenzo Fernández, “Xocas “, quien en su Cancioneiro popular da Baixa Limia, Ed. Galaxia. 1973, se refiere así a Ponte da Barca : “ Son correntes as mutuas visitas dos de Entrimo e Lovios e os da Ponte da Barca con motivo das festas de unha ou de outras da antigas das ditas localidades “. Eran tiempos agradables en que se asistía a las fiestas y romerías a pie o en coche de línea que iba parando por todas las parroquias. Ponte da Barca posee un rincón especial, lírico y atractivo en un espacio justo al lado del río Lima con un monumento a sus dos poetas, y que además eran hermanos : Diogo Bernardes (1526-- 1594 ) y Agostinho da Cruz ( 1540-- 1619 ). Constituyen, desde su monumento, presencias bucólicas y místicas, presencias espirituales y escrutadoras de su mundo interior, presencias del fervor profundo y de la devoción religiosa , y en el segundo una poética “ a lo divino”. Son poetas manieristas donde la honda tensión interior se conjuga con una conducta con técnica social, donde la contenida intensidad (un apretado dismulo ) se conjuga con el tormento ( de enorme interés antropológico ), y donde la exhaltación visceral y un “exceso “ de manera se alterna con el equilibrio y el orden. Nos interesa más el primer poeta, cuyos sonetos sobre el río Lima exprimen certeros versos sobre su esencia y magnitud. Me refiero a Rimas Vârias / Flores do Lima. Ed. fácsímil de 1597 .Con “Nota introductória del iolvidable Aníbal Pinto de Castro. Entresaco”: “Meu patrio Lima, saudoso e brando / Como nào sentirá quem Amor sente, / Que partes deste valle descontente, / Donde também me parto sospirando? “. El sentimiento manierista del paisaje y de los sucesos en desconcierto del alma es esencial en Diogo Bernardes. El río Lima no sólo emite poesía por sí mismo, es que también posee una ilustre literatura portuguesa.
