Nearly 6,000 patients were wrongly billed for their COVID-19 tests and vaccines after Riverside University Health System experienced a system error, officials said.
The medical system apologized for the error in a statement issued Thursday afternoon, noting that it wants to assure community members that all vaccinations and testing appointments are given at no cost to the community.
Though the system partners with Riverside County to offer some services, it is a separate entity. None of the county public health department s testing sites or vaccine clinics were affected by this billing issue, spokesperson Heather Jackson said Thursday.
