Throughout the night, department command staff recognized LPD employees for their work during various incidents, from communications specialists making life-saving phone calls to officers responding to homicide investigations.
The new portraits are for two K9 officers who have died over the last two years — Bond who served the department from 2020 to 2021 when he died as well as Monte who served from 2014 to 2021, ultimately dying in 2022 — as well as Shadow who will be retiring in December after 10 years of service and Tylon who retired in 2020 after 5 years of service.
