Winter blast in much of U.S. poses serious risks like black ice, frostbite and hypothermia.
Freezing temperatures and wind speeds are creating dangerously cold conditions in a large part of the U.S. stretching from Montana to northern Florida. It is expected to be in the single digits in parts of the southern U.S., including the Florida Panhandle, that are typically much warmer. Portions of Kansas will feel like 15 degrees below zero Fahrenheit (minus 26 degrees Celsius) on Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.
