County health officer Dr. Rob Oldham says they're experiencing a "vaccine gap," meaning their current capacity to administer vaccines far exceeds their supply. Last week, only four thousand Placer County residents got the vaccine. Public health officials say ramp up the pace to 20,000 people per week, but they just don't have enough supply. The county's interim health officer Dr. Rob Oldham announced that four-thousand health care workers will be vaccinated this week and another three-thousand doses are on the way for long-term care facility residents. The arrival of the vaccines comes as Placer County ran out of available adult ICU beds earlier this week.
