The CIF Southern Section (CIF-SS) and the NFHS Network are excited to announce the renewal of their partnership with a streaming rights agreement for local high school sports as announced today by CIF-SS Commissioner of Athletics Rob Wigod, and NFHS Network Vice-President Mark Koski. The new six-year deal will commence with this 2020-21 school year and will extend through the 2025-26 season. Summer Dead Period waived for 2021 CIF Southern Section Bylaw 1223.3 states, “A summer dead period must be declared by the school district and/or principal for all sports. The dates of the dead period must be forwarded to the Southern Section Commissioner. The dead period must be the same for all sports levels and must be two (2) consecutive weeks, fourteen (14) days between the end of school in the spring and the first day of school in the fall. The switch of boys volleyball to the spring in the CIF’s two-season calendar amid the COVID-19 pandemic brought some relief to a couple of local coaches.
