After Portland police caught a robber “in the act” on Nov. 17, investigators say the man has since been connected to several other cases.
Valuables worth over Rs 20 lakhs were stolen by the robbers during the two incidents.
According to the police, the Activa schooter used in the crime was stolen from Sector 19, Panchkula. The instrument used to break the lock of shops have also been recovered from the accused.
Besides 1,000 sovereigns of gold jewelry gifted to his daughter, the businessman's son-in-law robbed, identified as Muhammad Hafiz, around ₹107 crore from him.
Based on complaint, a case was registered under Section 394 of Indian Police Code. A special team was formed on instructions of the superintendent of police, Alirajpur to crack the case.
