CARLSBAD The Carlsbad City Council met in special session Tuesday to discuss the city’s economic and financial update for the third quarter of the fiscal year 2021. The council heard a report and discussed ways to address the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Staff was asked to bring back information on supporting nonprofits. Print In a 4-1 vote, the San Dieguito Union School District board has appointed Lucile Lynch as the interim superintendent following the resignation of Robert Haley this week. On April 29, the board met in closed session for about four hours before making the announcement about Lynch’s appointment. The sole vote against the appointment was trustee Katrina Young. Lynch had two sons that attended schools in the SDUHSD and she volunteered at their schools, Oak Crest Middle School and La Costa Canyon High School, throughout their attendance. The district called her a dedicated "education advocate." The decision comes days after former Superintendent Robert Haley resigned from his position. Friday marked his last day.
