Three Charged by SEC with Defrauding Hundreds of Digital Asset Investors

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged three people with defrauding hundreds of retail investors out of more than $11 million through two fraudulent and unregistered digital asset securities offerings.
According to the SEC’s complaint, Kristijan Krstic, the founder of online companies Start Options and Bitcoiin2Gen, and John DeMarr, who was the primary US-based promoter for the companies, fraudulently induced investors to buy digital asset securities over the course of a year and a half ending in May 2018.
The SEC alleges Krstic and DeMarr touted Start Options’ purported digital asset mining and trading platform, falsely claiming it was “the largest Bitcoin exchange in euro volume and liquidity” and had been “consistently rated the best and most secure Bitcoin exchange by independent news media.” ....

Founder of Crypto Scam Promoted by Actor Steven Seagal Charged — Key Member Arrested in US
Three people have been charged in the U.S. over two cryptocurrency scams, one of which was promoted by famous Hollywood actor Steven Seagal. The main promoter of the schemes has already been arrested and is facing criminal charges. Seagal previously settled the charges against him relating to the scheme.
The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged three people on Monday with defrauding retail investors “through two fraudulent and unregistered digital asset securities offerings” that occurred between approximately December 2017 and May 2018. The three are Kristijan Krstic, John DeMarr, and Robin Enos. DeMarr has been arrested and is facing criminal charges by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). ....

Bitcoin trio charged with $11m digital asset fraud


They targeted retail investors
The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged Kristijan Krstic, John DeMarr and Robin Enos with digital asset fraud.
Krstic is the founder of Start Options and Bitxoiin2Gen; while DeMarr was the primary promoter for both companies in the US, and Enos worked with DeMarr on the marketing material.
According to the regulator, the trio defrauded retail investors out of more than $11m (£8m, €9m).
The SEC alleges that between December 2017 and May 2018 they “fraudulently induced investors to buy digital asset securities”.
In addition, the complaint said that they falsely claimed Start Options was “the largest Bitcoin exchanged in euro volume and liquidity” and that it was “consistently rated the best and most secure Bitcoin exchange by independent news media”. ....

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission has charged three individuals for various cryptocurrency frauds including the 2018 initial coin offering for the Steven Seagal-promoted altcoin, Bitcoiin2Gen.
A Feb. 1 SEC announcement estimates that Bitcoiin Gen founder John DeMarr, Start Options founder Kristijan Krstic, and promotor Robin Enos duped investors out of more than $11 million through two fraudulent and unregistered securities offerings from December 2017 until May 2018.
The SEC alleges that Krstic and DeMarr first spruiked Start Options’ purported crypto asset mining and trading platform in December 2017 and January 2017, falsely claiming it was “the largest Bitcoin exchange in euro volume and liquidity” at the time. ....

SEC charges three people for defrauding crypto investors out of £8M


Krstic and DeMarr allegedly touted Smart Options as the largest BTC exchange.
Enos joined Krstic and DeMarr in 2018, helping them promote B2G’s unregistered ICO.
The United States Securities Exchange Commission (SEC) has charged three individuals for orchestrating two crypto-related schemes worth more than £8.03 million. SEC unveiled this news through a press release on February 1, noting that the accused conducted fraudulent and unregistered digital asset securities offerings through two companies, namely Start Options and Bitcoiin2Gen. Through these offerings, the accused proceeded to defraud hundreds of retail investors out of their hard-earned money.
According to the news release, the authority filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
