The government must introduce a statutory ban on mobile phones in schools if its current crackdown on the devices proves ineffective, MPs have said.
Studies show that around a quarter of children and young people use their smartphones in a way that is consistent with a behavioural addiction.
Online safety campaigner Ian Russell says a ban on phones or social media access would "cause more harm than good" and would "punish children for the failures of tech companies to protect them".
