A slogan, “Our Route Ring Road”, was coined and placards printed. Sikh writer Sukhpreet Singh Udhoke posted a picture of one such small placard while flanked by Kisan Mazdoor Sangharash Committee president Satnam Singh Pannu and others. KMSC had announced that it would take the Ring Road route on Monday evening.
Drama around the stage continued till Monday night. While the atmosphere was tense, no one appeared to be in charge. It is learned that SKM chiefs were already apprehending trouble and preferred to close all business for the day at around 5pm and leave the stage.
It is learned that Lakha Sidhana, allegedly an ex-gangster who now claims to be a social worker, also came to Singhu and tried to defuse the tension. He returned after failing to do so and then posted a Facebook Live message in which he said it was everybody’s responsibility to ensure no one was harmed during Tuesday’s march. However, Deep Sidhu also came there and, later, some Sikh activists intervened. At the time, a five-member committee was formed to talk to SKM leaders. Though the issue was sorted out at night, it had become clear Tuesday would be no cakewalk.
