After being unavailable shortly after its first sale two weeks ago, the HP Omen 15 is down in price yet again to be one of the better GeForce RTX 3060 laptops you can find for the price.
The deal is notable because the configuration in question is the latest 2021 model from HP and not just some older design. It comes with the latest Zen 3 CPU and Nvidia Ampere GPU alongside a fast 144 Hz IPS display. The Razer Blade 15 with the same GPU and slower Intel CPU costs over $500 more than this HP in comparison.
The main drawback to this deal is the limited 8 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. Fortunately, users can remove the bottom panel and upgrade both RAM and storage whenever they wish after purchasing. Keep in mind that the AMD system lacks Thunderbolt support unlike on the Omen 15 SKUs with Intel CPUs.

Nvidia removes mining rate limits on the GeForce RTX 3060 with a new beta driver [Update]

Prior to the launch of the GeForce RTX 3060 graphics cards, Nvidia announced that the GPU would come with an algorithm designed to cut the mining hash rate of the card in half, specifically for the Ethereum cryptocurrency. The goal, according to the company, was to prevent cryptocurrency miners from hogging all the stock of the card and blocking gamers from getting the cards. At the same time, the company launched dedicated mining GPUs without display outputs to cater to the mining market.

 by RTX 3080 and RTX 3090 which both consume over 300W of power. This meant board partners had to design some seriously large coolers to deal with such high-power silicon. With the RTX 3060, however, we are starting to see a shift in thinking. With its 170W TDP, Palit has been able to design a single-fan card that is barely longer than a x16 PCIe slot.

The performance gap is definitely there, but it's nothing that we haven't seen before from previous generation Max-Q and non Max-Q designs. Gamers will see about 15 to 20 percent slower performance if jumping from a 130 W GeForce RTX 3060 GPU to the 75 W version.

Acer has launched their new Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop powered by NVIDIA RTX 3060 graphics and an Intel Core i5-10300H 10th Gen processor for Rs. 89,990 in India. This isn’t the first gaming laptop to feature an RTX 30-series GPU but it certainly happens to be the first with an RTX 3060 GPU. ASUS already has RTX 3080 and 3070 based gaming laptops and MSI seems to be gearing up to have their units in the Indian market as well. The new Acer Nitro 5 also comes with 8GB RAM and a 15.6-inch 144 Hz IPS panel with a claimed response time of 3ms. The laptop weighs 2.3 kgs and supposedly provides up to 10 hours of battery life for normal use. Acer is selling the new RTX 3060 powered Nitro 5 gaming laptop on Amazon and their own Acer store for Rs. 89,990. And there’s also another unit with twice the RAM (16GB) for Rs 93,990 which is more appealing for gaming. The funny bit here is that this might be the only way for anyone to get an RTX 3060 in India.

Nvidia today released a new version of its graphics card drivers, and the WHQL-certified 461.72 Game Ready driver lands touting support for the new RTX 3060 graphics card as well as the company's latest dedicated mining hardware that's dubbed CMPs (Cryptocurrency Mining Processors).
The RTX 3060 hits shops today and to discourage crypto miners from snapping stocks up, Nvidia says the gaming dedicated graphics card will reduce its Ethereum cryptocurrency mining efficiency by 50% when a mining algorithm is detected. Meanwhile, the new CMP 40HX and 30HX cards from Nvidia that this driver also provides support for are meant to fill that mining hole.

MSI's new GeForce RTX 3060 GAMING X TRIO is a tremendous replacement to the GeForce GTX 1060, with RTX + DLSS and 12GB of GDDR6.

NVIDIA has launched the RTX 3060, the youngest member of the RTX 30-series Ampere graphics cards but with more memory (12 GB) that the more powerful RTX 3060 Ti (8 GB). There will be no Founders Edition cards for the RTX 3060 so all of those GPUs have been allocated to board partners. Industry sources tell us that the stock situation for the RTX 3060 is similar to that of the RTX 3060 Ti. At the same time, NVIDIA's retail partner, RPTech has unlisted the RTX 3060 Ti from their official website. As of now, we do not know what this means for the RTX 3060 Ti. Whether it will be restocked, remains to be seen.

It turns out that ZOTAC has been selling both its RTX 3060 cards before NVIDIA's release embargo on February 25. Now, the ZOTAC GeForce RTX 3060 Twin Edge OC Edition has popped up in a video about mining Ethereum. However, it seems that the RTX 3060 can tell that it is mining cryptocurrencies even without software drivers being installed, which points to NVIDIA having baked something within the BIOS, not just its drivers.

NVIDIA may be gearing to release another Ampere-based graphics card this month, but a new report claims that the RTX 30 series' availability will worsen between now and the end of March. The RTX 30 series' stock levels have been poor since the launch of the first desktop cards, so it is difficult to imagine how they could get much worse.

Nvidia's next-generation graphics card, the GeForce RTX 3060, is reportedly releasing later this month.
The company announced its next-generation non-Ti GPU last month. The much-awaited mainstream GPU Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 will launch on Feb. 25 at 6 a.m. PT (9 a.m. ET), Wccftech reported. It is the company's first-ever GA106-based model with 3584 CUDA cores enabled on the GPU. The price starts at $320.99 but it will vary due to custom designs and stock availability. 
The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 features a 12 GB GDDR6 memory, which is the second-highest in the company's RTX 30 Ampere series. Interestingly, it is much higher than RTX 3080's memory size. The memory runs on a 192-bit bus wide interface with a clock speed of 15 Gbps. 

The laptop versions of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 are yet to land, but the first gaming benchmarks are already online. The two videos compare the GeForce RTX 3060 against the GeForce RTX 2060 in nine games, including in CDPR's latest title, Cyberpunk 2077.

Announced just a week ago, resellers are already gearing up to ship gaming laptops equipped with the next generation of AMD Zen 3 CPUs and Nvidia Ampere GPUs. The latest is the 17.3-inch Asus ROG G17 G713 with the Ryzen 7 5800H CPU and GeForce RTX 3060 Max-P GPU for just under $1500 USD. Note that the 15.6-inch MSI GF65 will ship with this same GPU for a full $500 less albeit with significantly weaker hardware.
When compared to last year's ROG G17 G712, the newer G713 has slightly different ports and external design elements but is otherwise quite similar visually. Internally, however, the upgrades are expected to be significant especially since Asus will be applying liquid metal to aid in cooling the CPU. The configuration comes with 16 GB of RAM, a 1 TB NVMe SSD, and a 144 Hz FHD display. A second configuration with the faster GeForce RTX 3070 Max-P, Ryzen 9 5900HX, and 300 Hz FHD display is also available for $300 more.

According to AMD and NVIDIA, there will not be an uptick in GPU availability for a few months yet. Stock levels of the GeForce RTX 30 series will remain 'lean' until at least May, according to NVIDIA, while AMD believes that things will improve once the impact of COVID lessens.

NVIDIA may well have just announced the GeForce RTX 3060, but company representatives have informed Seeking Alpha that its Ampere-based cards will continue to remain 'lean' for months. Apparently, we should not expect to see any improvements until the end of April, which will probably mean that it will be May before it is easier to buy an RTX 30 series card.

The ROG Zephyrus G14 was one of the most-talked-about laptops of 2020, not least because its Ryzen 9 4900HS showed how far AMD had come with its mobile APUs. ASUS has now unveiled a new version of the ROG Zephyrus G14 at CES 2021, and it should improve upon the performance of last year's model.
The 14-inch gaming laptop has moved from Ryzen 4000 series APUs to AMD's new Ryzen 5000 series, which it announced today. Moreover, ASUS has adopted NVIDIA's Ampere architecture and has upgraded the ROG Zephyrus G14 to the GeForce RTX 3060. We should stress that ASUS has equipped the machine with the Max-P version of the GeForce RTX 3060, which should represent a significant performance increase from the GeForce RTX 2060 Max-Q found in last year's model.
