At 105 years old, Ruby Mae Kornegay has seen two world wars (she was only 6 when the first one ended in 1918, but she’d probably heard “Over There” being sung until she was ready to scream), the Great Depression and the strangle-hold and eventual strangulation of Jim Crow society.
