Hansen crowned first women s Nordic combined world champion in Oberstdorf Saturday, 27 February 2021 Norway’s Gyda Westvold Hansen has been crowned the maiden women’s Nordic combined world champion as the discipline made its Nordic World Ski Championships debut in Oberstdorf. Hansen placed second in the ski jumping discipline after a leap of 102.5 metres saw her finish with 127 points. She would have only a minor three second deficit in the cross-country event to compatriot Mari Leinan Lund, who led the ski jumping on 127.8. Hansen proved the dominant force in the five-kilometre cross-country section of the competition, with the world junior champion winning the inaugural senior event in 13min 10.4sec. ....

Klæbo defends cross-country sprint title at Nordic World Ski Championships Thursday, 25 February 2021 Johannes Høsflot Klæbo led a Norwegian clean sweep in the men’s cross-country sprint event as the first medals of the Nordic World Ski Championships in Oberstdorf were decided. The defending champion was hoping to become the first skier to win consecutive sprint world titles at the Championships. Klæbo began impressively by topping qualification in a time of 3min 0:08sec, before winning his quarter and semi-final heats. A perfect day was completed by finishing the final in a winning time of 3:01.30. His compatriots Erik Valnes and Haavard Solaa Taugboel completed the podium, ending 0.66 and 0.8 off this pace, respectively. ....
