SANTA RITA, Guam—In response to a distress call from the operator of the 39-foot motor vessel Mama Loling on Aug. 30, reporting the engine overheating, U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector
U.S. Coast Guard Forces Micronesia/Sector Guam personnel successfully coordinated a search and rescue operation, in collaboration with multiple partners, to locate and rescue two overdue fishermen near Nukuoro Atoll in the Federated States of Micronesia last July 12 and 13.
After searching since Thursday, Guam Fire Department and the Coast Guard are suspending the active search for a spearfisher who went missing near Orote Point.
Rescue crews continued their search Saturday for a spearfisherman who failed to return to a boat after freediving near Orote Point.
The U.S. Coast Guard, Navy and Japan Coast Guard recently worked together to rescue a mariner aboard a fishing vessel south of Guam.
