Incumbent Erika Randall lost her bid for re-election in a close, three-way race for two seats on the Park Rapids City Council. In Nevis, recently appointed council member Ryan Mathisrud lost to Blair Reuther and John Carrier. Menahga voters elected two new candidates for two open seats.
The Park Rapids Area League of Women Voters held a candidate forum on Monday, Sept. 27 for city council candidates.
The city's preliminary 2023 property tax levy totals about $3.05 million.
In other Aug. 23 workshop discussion, council members agreed to give the city planning commission the first look at license agreements and to withdraw from voting membership in the Armory board.
