Clearfield County Man Facing Charges 10:30 pm 22-year-old James McClelland faces multiple charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a five year old girl in Boggs Township. According to court documents, the five-year-old victim and her family were staying at a home in Boggs Township, Clearfield County. Authorities said James McClelland was staying with the victim and her family from February to March of this year. Karthaus Christmas Eve Standoff 9:09 pm Clearfield County District Attorney Ryan Sayers spoke out on the recent standoff in Karthaus that led to 46-year-old Shannon David Quick being taken into custody. Sayers says a 302 Warrant (also known as a Mental Health Warrant) was issued and executed at Quick’s home on Potter Street on Christmas Eve. HOUTZDALE — A state prison inmate will stand trial for killing his cellmate last summer. In October, state police charged Jacob Michael Mitchell, 33, with criminal homicide, aggravated assault, assault by prisoner, strangulation, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with the death of Garrick Bloom at the State Correctional Institution at Houtzdale. Bloom, 48, who had been convicted of multiple child rape charges, was found unresponsive in his cell at 11:03 p.m. on Aug. 29. Efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Several local restaurants are defying Gov. Tom Wolf’s orders to close indoor dining at their facilities. Late last week, Wolf ordered all restaurants to close their indoor seating areas effective on Saturday, Dec. 12 until Jan. 4. Restaurants are only permitted to serve take-out due to the COVID-19 pandemic and surging cases of coronavirus statewide. Locally, several restaurants have refused to follow Wolf’s mandate.
