At the interbank foreign exchange, the domestic currency opened at 82.87 and inched up further to trade at Thursday's closing level of 82.85 against the greenback
During the day, the local unit saw an intra-day high of 82.84 and a low of 82.96 against the American currency
Moses Kuria, the CS for Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management, noted that the repayment of the Eurobond helped to stabilise the markets.
Forex traders said elevated crude oil prices weighed on the local unit and restricted a sharp uptick.
