Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chief S Somnath said that the next instalment of the Chandrayaan programme is under development, which will take forward the country's moon exploration.
Speaking of the moon mission, he said that ISRO must have continuous access to the moon and that this mission would not just happen by an accident but would require a continuous exercise of missions to the moon and then expanding knowledge on the moon in a substantial manner.
ISRO was holding discussions 'internally' on its plan for the launch of the Chandrayaan-4 mission and was involved in developing a 'novel design' and 'high-end technology' in this connection, a top official said on Saturday.
Outlining India s ambitious vision for its space programme, ISRO chief S Somanath said the country will build a space station by 2035 and an Indian presence on the moon by 2040. He was speaking at the International Space Conference 2024 in Gandhinagar.
India s Aditya-L1 satellite is set to reach its designated orbit on January 6th, where it will stay for the next five years. The satellite will study the outer atmosphere of the Sun and gather data to understand the dynamics of the Sun and its effects on Earth.
