Washington, 31 July 2021 (SPS) - Former diplomats and human rights activists in the United States has called on the head of US diplomacy, Antony Blinken, to open an investigation into human rights violations perpetrated by Morocco in occupied Western Sahara.

SPS 03/07/2021 - 21:57 EL-Aaiun, 3 July 2021 (SPS) - President of the Sahrawi Body against Moroccan occupation (ISACOM), Aminatou Haidar, called on the United Nations to assume its responsibility and to conduct urgent and thorough investigations into the human rights violations committed by Morocco in the occupied Sahrawi cities. Western Sahara has been at the mercy of a brutal occupation since 1975. It is time for the United Nations to take responsibility for decolonization, said Aminatou Haidar in a statement before the UN Human Rights Council. The Sahrawi activist asked the Council to urge Morocco to put an end to systematic violations of human rights to enable the Sahrawi people to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination and freedom.
