A co-founder of FloydFest is parting ways with the event after more than two decades of working together, according to Sam Calhoun with Across-the-Way Productions Incorporated.
The news this week that FloydFest will not happen — neither on its newly purchased grounds nor an alternative site — was a hard bummer for music fans, local businesses and the performers themselves. The multiple vendors who basically set up a small town within the music carnival took one on the chin, as well.
Organizers say they had to make the difficult decision to cancel FloydFest this summer because of construction and permit delays.

Festival organizers said they are still missing a final permit to work at their new property in Floyd County and were unable to find a suitable replacement venue.
Permitting and logistical factors" at the new FloydFest site on US 221 - FestivalPark - is not currently viable for a 2023 festival. Across the Way Productions says it is exploring other options for that same weekend in July and will have more information to make public on April 6th. Sam Calhoun is with ATW;
