Former state Sen. Daniel Biss declared victory Tuesday in the election for Evanston mayor.

Waukegan Mayor Sam Cunningham claimed victory Tuesday night in the Democratic primary over challenger Miguel Rivera, and North Chicago Mayor Leon Rockingham Jr. claimed victory over Anthony Coleman in his primary.

Cunningham and Rivera are competing for the Democratic nomination in the sole contested race in the Waukegan Democratic primary Tuesday for the right to face Ald. Ann Taylor, 9th Ward, an independent candidate, in the April 6 general election.
