The hype around Malcolm and Marie built up for months before the release date. Reviews, however, have been mixed. The film scored two out of five from Rolling Stone, 58% from Rotten Tomatoes and five out of 10 from IGN. Malcolm and Marie was criticised for the age difference between the lead characters.
