Gilsland: The village split between two Covid tiers
RESIDENTS within one of the district's smallest communities are living within two different tiers of Covid restrictions. With a population of around 400, Gilsland sits between Northumberland and Cumbria, with the border drawing a line across the centre. Those living and working on the east side are bound by the toughest, Tier 3 restrictions, while people on the west side of the village are aligned with the Tier 2 rules for Cumbria.
