India News: The seven-member committee led by former President Ram Nath Kovind looks set to endorse the idea of one nation-one election in its report to be submitted to the govt in the next few days. The recommendations will include safeguards against the synchronicity being disrupted because of contingencies like a hung House, fall of a govt after loss in a no-trust vote or being reduced to a minority because of defections.

Kovind and committee members Home Minister Amit Shah, former Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, former Finance Commission chairperson N K Singh, former Lok Sabha secretary-general Subhash C Kashyap and former CVC Sanjay Kothari attended the meeting, as per a Law Ministry statement.
