There will be a stay on the user charges levied for solid waste management till the chief minister takes a call on the matter, Maharashtra Industries Minister Uday Samant told the Assembly on Friday.
At a meeting with the PCMC commissioner on Saturday, representatives of cooperative housing societies urged him to scrap the charge, reminding that it was the civic body’s responsibility to manage solid waste.
The PCMC has started imposing user charges of Rs 60 per flat for collecting and disposing of waste generated by residential societies, with retrospective effect from July 1, 2019.
